How do I file an LTB application in Ontario?

Complete the appropriate form (T1, T2, T5, T6 for tenants; L1–L10 for landlords). The tenant filing fee for T1/T2/T5/T6 is $48 online via the Tribunals Ontario Portal or $53 by mail/ServiceOntario. Fee waivers are available for people with low income.

How long does the LTB process take?

Can I fight an eviction notice in Ontario?

Yes. A notice from your landlord does not by itself end your tenancy. To evict you, the landlord has to apply to the LTB for an order (Residential Tenancies Act, s. 69), and you can dispute it at the hearing; you do not file a T2 or T5 to dispute the notice. If the landlord's application is for unpaid rent, you can also raise your own issues, such as repairs, at that hearing if you meet the conditions in s. 82: written notice to the landlord in advance and, unless the regulations say otherwise, paying half of the arrears claimed before the hearing.
